All Jolla phone's supported mobile network frequencies

- GSM (2G): 850/900/1800/1900 Mhz
- UMTS (3G): 900/2100 Mhz
- LTE (4G) 800/1800/2600 MHz (bands 20, 3, 7)

Jolla supports LTE cat 3, providing
maximum speed 100/50Mbs (download/upload)

Last updates Jun-27-2014:

- LTE Network seems to work fine with most of the operators listed here.
- Japanese operators and some APN fixes added
- APN fix is also added to the reporting form

Manual APN (Access Point Name) setting is needed with few operators, Jolla is adding these settings to the later system updates. You can check the settings from here, together portal or your local operator. You can change the APN settings manually via Settings > System > Mobile Network (Long tap on your network name) > Edit

  • Jolla phone uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip for connecting to mobile networks. The hardware itself supports multiple other bandwidths, but devices for other bands are not yet manufactured. It's common in the smartphone industry that only few bandwidths of all possible are taken into use to reduce phone's power consumption.
  • Country list was based on wiki information and updated later by information from users. List includes  LTE networks using bands 3,7 and 20 which Jolla phone's antenna supports. These bands are confirmed by Jolla.

  1. US Sprint 800 MHz is band 26 which is different than European LTE800 (band 20). So I think it will not work there.

Overall LTE brings nice possibilities on some networks 3G doesn't work on, like Rogers in Canada. So you could use 2G and LTE on those networks.

  2. one quastion : does jolla just work on countries which support 4G? I mean, can I use jolla at Iran which doesn't support 4G?

    1. Thanks for the question, it clears things up for others too. Jolla also supports:
      GSM (2G)
      - 850/900/1800/1900 Mhz
      UMTS (3G)
      - 900/2100 Mhz

  3. Have tried on Docomo in Japan in area's where it is stated that the 1800 band is operational (parts in Osaka), but the phone cannot pick up any signal if I switch to the 4G radio.

  4. Simo, can you please correct the mistake in the name of (The) Czech Republic? It's neither Chech Republic, or Check Republic.

    Thank you

Btw, first day with Jolla for me... :)

    1. Thanks and sorry for the wrong letters. Fixed now.

  5. 4G/LTE is finally here! Please provide links to your operators coverage maps with the form, I'll add those to the article. (see example: Europe > Check Republic > T-Mobile). Also, please comment if you find any mistakes/typos or outdated/faulty information in the list.

  6. For O2 (pay & go) The following APN settings work:

    APN name:
    Username: vertigo
    Password: password

  7. Correction APN name: These settings are for O2-UK

  8. Japan added, coverage map link works only with Japanese as system language. Great to get a new country to the list, thanks for using the form!

  9. i m using 3g mobile internet service, any body can tell me about 4g internet services ?

    1. As this vary a lot by operator, I suggest contacting your local one. In general 4G can achieve a lot higher data transfer speed, but it's more expensive and haven't got as good coverage as 3G networks.

  10. For Australia the telstra network(most coverage) is still UMTS band 5(850) so the jolla does not work well in Australia and will be limited to larger urban areas were LTE and UMTS band 8(900) are available.
Many Australians go camping over the summer holidays and show off their latest gadgets to friends but without at least 3G network coverage a demo would be limited and disappointing and would miss out on sales. Australians have a large dispossable income and tend to buy many gadgets per year.
Hopefully this gets fixed in v2, as the N9 was dumped(onto market) in large quantities after it was cancelled and picked up a few good local reviews at the time.
