Antti Saarnio has shared additional information on the upcoming news to Techcrunch. Main parts listed below, full article here
  • Jolla will have an announcement about India partnerships with “major corporations in terms of device licensing and other ecosystem partnerships”
  • The forthcoming India announcement is a “proof of concept” for Jolla’s BRICS-focused business model. “I don’t see any reason why we would not be able to expand this licensing agreement to multiple device vendors and multiple media companies and multiple ecommerce companies. I do see that the market is really looking for an alternative at the moment and companies are ready to take actions on that.”
Also in India, retailer Snapdeal is a member of the Sailfish Alliance, being the most probable candidate as the retailer for a Sailfish OS device. Speculating what we might see in the future is for example a Micromax device running on Sailfish OS 2, having Snapdeal partner space integrated into the system for e-commerce services.

However, there are many phone manufacturers in India, so let's just wait one more week to hear which one is it and when the next Sailfish OS phone might be launched.

Also Chinese companies like OnePlus, Xiaomi and Coolpad want to produce phones in Indian factories. For example Xiaomi has plans to open a huge Southern Indian factory, left empty after Nokia

Some time ago Antti Saarnio shared plans about announcing roadmap for Open Source Sailfish OS 2.0. Elsewhere, he shared that a new Sailfish OS device manufacturer will be announced soon. That would be the first 3rd party using Jolla's operating system Sailfish OS, which has so far been running only on Jolla Phone and demoed on Jolla Tablet.

Additional to the expected news above, we are looking forward to hear more about news shared by Russian government. Jolla introduced their Sailfish OS in an expert council under Ministry of Telecommunications, and as a result Sailfish OS was selected as number one option as an import substitution for mobile operating system, with a note from the experts to include a Russian mobile device (phone and tablet) if Sailfish OS will be supported.

Even more, people are looking forward for confirmation on Jolla Tablet's shipping schedule for end of July, after Jolla shared there might be additional delay due to display issues.

Are we hearing all four of the above, or something totally different, even bigger? What do you think? Antti Saarnio, the chairman Sailor at Jolla, tweeted:
