[News] Sailfish OS 2 will be more open

Jolla has plans to open Sailfish OS version 2

The news relates to the negotiations in Russia, where Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications is looking for alternatives for Android and iOS.

Communications Minister Nikolai Nikiforov was awarded the Russian YotaPhone smartphone running the mobile operating system (OS) Sailfish. According to him, Russia in the short term is unlikely to become a world leader in mobile devices, but YotaPhone running on Sailfish has "a great future."

Jolla has shared the new main features of the next Sailfish OS upgrade 14. The next upgrade is bringing us private browsing, search in email, notifications for voicemail, and much more:

Update: upgrade 14 (1.1.5) has been dropped early, but the information below is valid for upgrade 15 (1.1.6) which was released for test users on June 8th, 2015

Jolla phone update: Sailfish OS 1.1.4.29 Äijänpäivänjärvi

Jolla system upgrade 13 - Now for everybody

Sailfish OS Äijänpäivänjärvi was first released to test users, and after a few weeks of feedback, to all users on May 4th, 2015: "We'll start rolling out the update to everyone today. If possible, update with the device connected to a charger. If you have phonehook from OpenRepos installed uninstall it before upgrading. Please ensure that you have ~1.5GB of free disk space before attempting to upgrade your Jolla."

Important: This upgrade will break the Facebook account on Jolla, even more than what was informed earlier

Update: Recommending not to install yet. Lot of possible bugs/issues
